Staycation with a New Baby

When the husband surprised me with a staycation for our 3rd wedding anniversary, I was a bit doubtful that we’d be able to pull it off. We’ve been having a hard time with the new baby in our lives, and I didn’t want to waste money that would be more appropriately used to buy practical things. Like diapers!

But the husband convinced me THAT WE DESERVED THIS break, so I just closed my eyes and got myself excited for this new experience.

Despite the logistics challenge and figuring things out for the first time, I’m glad we went for it. It was a great way to spend some quality time together, and to let Oliver experience another first. He won’t remember it, for sure, but we’ll have lots of pictures to show him when he’s older. June 2015 Favorites

Hola! Are you still on a summer groove? I’m not really still stuck to summer, maybe my least favorite season too, but my favorites are! Because they’re delayed haha!

June was a really fun-filled month though, despite the intolerable heat and humidity. We got to spend the first few days of that month in Singapore to attend the Asian Festival of Children’s Content, where the husband was a panelist for two sessions and gave a comics workshop as well.

December 2014 & January 2015 Favorites

December 2014 didn’t bring a lot of good things (as some of you may already know) so it was hard to pick my favorites that month, so I thought I’d combine it with January 2015’s favorites. January was definitely much kinder, allowing me (and I’m sure a lot of others) to refresh and look forward to the new things that a new year brings.

November 2014 Favorites

This year seems to be intent on leaving us all behind. If you’re anything like me, you probably blinked just a few times and woke up to the monster month (of extra heavy traffic for both vehicles and people, of an enormous workload that is bent on ending before the year does, of meetups that I can’t be a part of, for shame) that is December.

But despite how fast it went by, November was still great and here are my fave moments from the month that just passed!

October 2014 Favorites

October was such a fun month, wasn’t it? It was so much fun that I got inspired to make that month’s favorites canvas a colorful one! I also thought it would be great to include a jack-o-lantern head as the first O for the header.

octfavesAnd by chance, I was painting this at Epicurious in Shangri-La Mall where they sold tiny pumpkins. Of course, I took that as a chance to make this photo extra special.

Stars for Dreams x Cafe Publico

The month of October started with another dream coming true, as I was able to set up my Intimate Spaces exhibit pieces at Cafe Publico‘s first ever Blue Door Gallery show AND draw on the blue door with chalk.

It was really more of being able to draw on the door more than anything. I remember that my siblings and I used to draw on our bedroom walls with crayons, and this reminded me of that sweet childhood memory.

BGC Art Mart

Leaving you with just a short blog update, an invitation to attend the BGC Art Mart this coming weekend (as well as the weekend of October 4 and 5), and visit our Homeycomb booth.

The husband will be selling his comics, some Wonderpop shirts with his designs, and his limited edition Bakemono High Chuck toy.

And I’ll be selling my most recent watercolored works as notebooks, postcard printsChristmas gift tags, and a limited number of handdrawn canvas tote bags.

We hope to see you there!

Intimate Spaces, An Exhibit

Open the door and come inside!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you would have seen the updates that I’ve been sharing about a group exhibit that I’m a part of at the end of the month, with Claudine Delfin and Mayu Ferrer.

And yes, finally, we can announce it! It’s happening on August 29, 6:30PM, at DITO: Bahay ng Sining in Marikina. Continue reading

Hey Kessy Craft Gathering

Ever since summer, my freelancing schedule has been crazy, and I’ve been struggling to keep up. Add to that the fact that I’ve decided to start a handful of personal projects that I’ve been putting off. It’s a miracle whenever I get to do something relaxing these days, so when the opportunity comes, I grab it!

One of those opportunities was Hey Kessy‘s Craft Gathering that I was able to enjoy last Sunday. Continue reading

GK Enchanted Farm

This post is long overdue, and honestly, it took so long because I wasn’t sure how to start writing it. There was an internal struggle that I had to figure out first before being able to sit down and focus on what I wanted to say about this experience. But now, I think I’m ready to share some of the things that I liked about this community and maybe, even share a part of the internal struggle I was going through.

Last summer, the husband and I visited GK Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan for a Bloggers Weekend. Our conversations at home usually include ideation on the different ways that we can use visual notes, graphic recording, art, and design to help find a way to solve the different problems that ail our country, so we thought that this was a great opportunity to reach out.
